If you're an insurance agent in Texas, especially individual health insurance, you've been asked about dental insurance. For the last 15 years I have been telling my policyholders it did not make economic sense to buy dental insurance. For about the last five years I've been referring my policyholders to discount plans (yuck!) because I have not been able to find dental insurance that was worth the money. Most of the individual dental insurance has a 2 year waiting period for major services, a 6 - 12 month waiting period for basic services, and cost in the $70 - $80 range for a family. But I never gave up, heck I wanted to have dental insurance on my family being a self employed agent.
Finally I have found a Dental INSURANCE plan that has no waiting period for preventive and basic and only a 1 year waiting period for major services. The policy also includes vision (good for me as 4 out of 5 in my family wear corrective lenses) and hearing.
See any provider you want, $100 deductible for all services (dental, vision and hearing combined). The premiums are about $60 for a family, $45 for a husband and wife or 1 parent family, and $27 for an individual.
Commisions are 20% first year, 6% renewal (the best I've found). There is also a worksite policy that is impressive with 15% first year, 10% renewal. Commissions are important, as my family likes to eat,but my family knows I crunch numbers and if a product is not in my clients best interest I won't write the business.
If you have something better( I've been looking for a long time and I don't think there is)... THAT IS NOT A DISCOUNT PLAN...I'd like to talk to you, if this is something you'd like more information on get in touch with me. If you'd like to call I can be reached toll free at 866-262-0500 ( I'm out in the field quite a bit so if I'm not there leave a message)or e-mail me.
Good luck.
