Everlene,

My understanding to noncompetes in Georgia (I live in GA also) is that this is a right to hire/fire state. Meaning that they can't stop you from earning a living in your chosen profession. They can however, tie you up in court and make you miserable. I'm no attorney, so I would recommend talking to one that specializes in this field. Or you can just listen to the recruiting efforts of Mack who provided no helpful information and wants you to call him on your dime. You'd think he'd at least get a toll-free number. Good luck!

: I just left a captive company that I was with for 6yrs. I want to go independent, but my agent contract has a noncompete . For 1 yr. I can't sell insurance within 25 miles of the location that I had with them or I can go back into the business immediately as long as I am 25 miles away. This is a problem because I want to sell and service in my hometown which was where my captive agency was. Does anyone have any experience with noncompetes in the state of Georgia. Thanks, Everlene
